Women working with Haziganj, an artisan group in the Nilphamari District of Bangladesh, weave this oval storage basket from the plentiful kaisa grass of this region. The basket features handles and a snugly fitting lid.
Haziganj is located in one of the poorest areas in Bangladesh, where people are mostly dependent on hiring out their labor to rich farmers who pay very low wages. Working with this project provides valuable and consistent income for the artisans.
